Batch Game Rating Script

In the user menu bar on top of the site, you can now find a link to a batch game rating form (unter the "Submit" tab). This now allows our registered users to quickly rate games all on one site, instead of having to go to each game site to submit a rating. You can rate released N64 and 64DD games as well as unreleased N64 games of which ROM dumps were publically released.

I think that user ratings are a pretty good representation of a game's quality. The more people vote, the more accurate, meaningful and important the average scores (and this site) become.

Therefore, all our current and future users are warmly invited to submit scores for the games he or she has played to fortify the reference status of 64DD.net and its community. Thank you!

N64 Myth Review

My review of the N64 Myth is now online and can be found here. I will update the review when I have had the time to do a bigger test with a lot of games and of course it will be updated whenever new features arrive.

New Videos

I've uploaded a lot of new videos, including three ones from the 1997 and 2000 E3 Expos, showing some never before seen footage from three unreleased Nintendo 64 Games:

Conker 64 (E3 1997) Cam Footage
Dinosaur Planet (E3 2000) Cam Footage
Resident Evil Zero (E3 2000) Cam Footage

Thanks to gilgamesh for the Videos, thanks to Jimmy for ripping those!

64DD.net Version 3

So here it is, the shiny new 64DD.net design! It is optimized for high resolutions, so i hope you're at least on 1024x768 pixels. ;)

Along with the new design, besides many small additions and changes like the 3D game boxes, more sorting options on the games list, the updated user rating block, updated tabs and buttons etc, the most noticeable addition is probably the multi language support. We are currently working on getting the site translated to several languages. This only means the interface, though, we won't translate every review or news post, but if anyone wants to submit a review in his native language, this can be set as the featured review for a certain language.

if you are looking for the menu, this has been moved to the vertical bars on the left and right sides. ;)

We are also looking for staff members, who are interested in making gameplay videos, scanning game boxes, working on the hardware section, writing reviews or essays about unreleased games, translate the site to other languages or anything else. PM me if you're interested. :)

Videostreaming

I updated the Games and Hardware sections with some new features. Most important change first; you now have the choice to stream videos thanks to the Adobe Flash Video format (requires Macromedia Flash), or download them in better quality. I also updated the Games listings with a new look and some more search options Don Camorra suggested, like showing games by release date or region. You'll also note that subsections for a game or hardware item, which don't contain anything yet, will be greyed out, thanks to an indexing script I wrote for that purpose.

Major update to the rom release list

Ok, just a small note to let everybody know that I did a major update to the rom release list. I've basically copy/pasted about 600 nfo files to the rom database, so I hope this will be useful to someone.

But above all, we would like to thanks cliffi for sending us all the nfo files. Thanks mate !

Meanwhile, Don Camorra is currently adding box and cart scans and I'll be doing the same as well as minor additions/corrections to the global database.

Sigh

Here we are again. After the death of our former host Emedian we have found a new place at Aheado, sadly there was no way to retrieve the latest data from Emedian, so I had to take my last backup, which sadly was from July, so a lot of stuff is lost. If you saved anything, I'd appreciate any help to recover any lost content.

Registration issue fixed

There were problems with the mail system, so no new registrations were possible because no confirmation emails could be sent since we changed to this temporary server. This is now fixed and all inactive users received an email to complete their registration. Sorry for that! Next time just let me know earlier. ;)

Forum back and working

I moved the site to another server which runs PHP4 to fix the problems we had with Smarty and PHP5, so the Forum is working again.

PHP5 + Smarty = Bad. Very Bad.

We, as a part of the Emedian Network, moved to a new server (and new domain) again last week. This included moving from the good old PHP4 to PHP5, and as it seems, there are problems with PHP5 and the Smarty engine used in Xoops, which mainly affects the Forums. But since there seems to be no easy way to fix these issues, and I also have no time for this at the moment, the site is open again for now. The Forum, however, is currently unusable. Sorry.
